MAORI REMANDED
Intoxication Charge A remand until Tnesday week wa4 granted by Mr A. J. C. Runciman, 'J.P., in the Hastings Police Court tETs morning when Joseph Ripohau, a Maori shearer, aged 42, appeared before him 011 -a charge of being intoxicated last evening while in charge of a motor-car in Karamu road. Bail was granted for £20, with one surety of £20. Sergeant "J. Mclntosh, who asked for the rernand, said that aecused was seen at about six o'elock last evening to enter his ear in Karamu road while in an advanqed state of intoxication. Constable Allen had seen him enter the driver 's seat, take the wheel, and prepare to drive away. As the result of a medical examination at the "police station, he was charged with, tho pffeuce.
