Military Camps
Sir, — Regarding ''Onlooker's" letter on military camps at the Showgrounds. The rallway cierk he refers to resigned his position to attend a military camp at Napier about four years ago, not under the -present Government, but under a previous Government. This was quite m line with the treatment meted out to members of the Public Service by that Government. As a ' member of the public, I think the agricultural society is not very patrxotic in refusing the use of their grounds for a military camp. What damage could be iione that the Defence Depatment would not repair Perhaps the real reason animating the committee was ati attem-pt to embarrass the Government. — Yours, etc., PETER SHINNICK. Hastings, Nov. 25, 1937.
