The Daily Telegraph 's Hongkong eorrespondent says: "Eears are increased that Japan is preparing a large-scale invasion on the south coast. These fears are heightened by a report from Amoy that three devisions of Japl, nese troops aboard warships off Eormoaa are awaiting oxders to invade the Canton area. This will be viewed very gravely owing to the danger of incidents involving British interests. "While I was flying towards Hongkong from Saigon," the eorrespondent adds, "I saw Japanese warships steaming almost under the guns of the new Stanley Eortress. Among them was the aircraft carrier from which Japanese planes were sent to attack Canton."
