MOTHERS' UNION

Festival Held in Hastings The annual festival of the Mothers' Union waa held in Hastings yesterday afternoon atud visitors were present from all parts of the diocese of Waiapu. The festival commenced with a service at St. Matthew's Churcli, taken by the vicar, Canon C. Mortimer- J ones, The lessons were read by Dean Brocklehurst, of St. john's Cathedral, Napier, and the sermon was preached by the Eev. S.'F. N. Waymouth, of St. Lukfe's Church, Havelock North. During the service Mr. O. B. Spinhey presided at the organ and played most beantiful music while delightful solos were snng by Mrs. O. B. Spinney. After the service everyone adjourned to the garden at the Vicarage, where they were received by Canon and Mrs. Mortimer-Jones, Mrs. M. T. de Lisle, president of St. Matthew's Mothers' Union, ahd Mrs. Graliam McCormicky the secretary. Amohg the guests were visitors from the branches of St. Matthew's Mothers' Union, St. Barnabas and St. James's Mothers' -'Union, and from tlie Mothers' Unions at Napier, Havelock North, Clive, Puketapu, Otane and Pukehou. An apology - was received from the Mothers' Union at Takapau. A very happy afternoon was speUt during which the president and secretaries of all the branches were photographed on the lawn at the Vicarage. A delicous afternoon tea was enjoyed by everybody.
