EMPIRE MIGRATION
Influential Deputation to Mr. ' Chamberlain SCHEMES PRESENTED (British Official Wireless.) (Beeeived 24, 12.30 p.m.) BTJGBY, Now. 23. The resolutions passed at the conierence on Empire development are being laid before the Prime Minister, Mr Neville Chamberlain, to-day by an influential deputati,on. One of these resolutions urges upon the Government the need to establish forthwith a statutory authority 'immune from changes of Government, witli definite financial powers and charged with the whole-time duty, in co-opera-tion with similar bodies in the Dominions^ to initiate and consider aid In carrying into effect schemes for the encouragement of all forms of Useful Empire activities, immigration and development upon adequately-financed and properly-supervised hases. The second resolution expresses the view that the time has arrived for an early resumption of Empire migration and urges the Government to invite representatives of the Dominion Governments to consider the possibility of making early preparations for a settlement and to indicate to the TJnited Kingdom the Government's readiness to give crodit facilities for approved schemes.
