Young Bride Leads Royal Mourners A COMMON GRAVE

(Received 24, 1.5 p.m.) DARMSTUDT, Nov. 23. As bells tolled and flags dropped at halfmast, Princess Louis of Hesse, the young hride, led the royal mourners, among whom were Lord Louis Mountbatten, who represented their Majesties, and the Marchioness of Milford Haven, ivho represented Queen Mary, at the funeral of members of the Hesse family killed at Ostend on November 17. Sir Auckland and Lady Geddes were present. The Duchess of Kent and other British Itoyalties, the Kaiser and Herr Hitler and General Goering sent wreaths. The scene of the funeral was Rosehill Pai'k. The six coffins were drapped in. the lionemblazoned banners of the Hesse family. These coffiins also included that of the Grand Duke 'George Dona-. tus, who died six weeks ago. They were placed in a common grave overshadowed by Lebanon cedars. Army and navy aeroplanes circled overheaji. A thousand, people clad in black and carrying home-made wreaths, lined tlie streets. A purple-draped-altar surmounted hy two burning candles stood at the head of the grave, the foot ibeing embanked with wreaths. The service was in accordance with Lutherap rites.
