LATE MR. PHIL SCULLIN
Monument Unveiled A large gathering of employees and board members of the Hawke's Bay Rivers Board attended the Taradale Cemetery on Sunday on tlxe oecasion of the unveiling of a monument over the grave of the late Mr Phil Scullin, overseer for tlxe board for many years. A short ceremony preeeded the unveiling by the chairman, Mr C. Lassen. "We are gathered here to-day to'8 again pay our respects and honour the lxiemox'y of our departed brother Phil Scullin," >said Mr Lassan, in a brief address. "It is searcely necessary to rcnxind the members of the board and the employees of the board what a true friend to all workmen our late overseer was." On bchalf of those present, Mr Lassen then unveiled tho handsoxne Tnonumeut, a three-step plain cross above the gravo. The Eev. Father ' Riordan thcn spoke of the xvorth-as a citizen of th'e late Mr Sculliix, and his readiness to ixelp his fellow-man, following his eulogy with the blessing of the grave.
