DISPLAY OF DANCING

Pupils oi Miss Betty Davis On Saturday evening the Foresters' Hall, Napier, was filled with an enthusiastic audionce of parents and friends for the annual display of dancing by pupils of Miss Betty Davis. Opening with an excellent physical culture display by the more advanced pupils, and followed by first steps of tbe tiny • tots, tsolo dances, taps and ballets^ the recital was a great success, the performance of the pupils reflecting much credit on their teacher. Music was supplied by Mrs. Bromley Hill (piano) and Mr. Harry Cooper (violin). The instant appearance of eacb group or individual performer at the conclusion of the previous numDer, greatly added to the enjoyinent of the evening, and was due in no small measure to the activities of -the stage inanager, Mr. Percy Spiller. Tlie frocking was most attractive and was shown to advantage by tbe colourful spotlights. The military ballet, in which those taking part wore satin suits of scarlet, gold and white, the ballet of "Chinese Babies " by the little tots in satin suits of white and black, the Spring ballet, with frocks of leaf green stiffened net with bodices of

green satin, and the solo dancers oi « « Italian, " ' 4 * Spanish, " 44 Egyptian ' and 44lndian" were only a few of thi many pretty costumes worn. A pieasant interlude was the periori mance of Master Warwick Humpkreys, ! who delighted his listeners witn tvvfl vocal solos for which he received mucli applause. 'Those taking part were: — .
