Successful Function

OTANE, This Day. Despite nnfavourable weather conditions that prevailed, the garden party held last week at Mr and Mrs Greville Warren's Penleq Station, Pukehou, in aid of . the Otane sub-branch of the Plunket Society was well attended and resulted in a -substantial siim being raised. The fancy, produce, and cake stalls were most attractively arranged and all did good business. Afternoon tea was served indoors instead of in the garden as originally plaimed, but the visitors took part in miniature golf-skittles, nail-driving and hoop-la in the garden, all entering into the spirit of the various competitions. Winners were: Miniature Golf, Mr J. Clark;. skittles, Mr W. Tod and Mrs Aitken; nail-driving, Mr C. A. Williams and Mr G. W. Warren (tied), Mrs Baldwin. Various other competitions wero won as follow: Lamb, Mr Jude; cake, Mrs J. Thompson; dinner, Mr G. Dillon; tea set, Mrs J. H. August; hairpin-work set, Mrs G. C. Williams. , Mueh credit is due to th© members of the committee and the many helpers who so willingly gave of tjieir time and energy to make the fete such a success and to them the results must have been most gratifying.
