WALLACE A CHAMPION
Sydney Comment on N.Z. Cricketers BATTING NEEDS STIFFENING (Received 22, 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 22. O. G. McCartney, commenting in tho Sydney Morning Herald, says: ''Tho New Zealand'ers' hatting needed stiffening. It was taken for grahted that the plavers were tired after their" long strain. Tliat touch of fighting ability born of experience was noticeably absent. The batting of Wallace in both .innings showed him as a champion. Moloney revealed his prowess with excellent work. These two were not sustained by their colleagues, and at the end of the day the position was disheartening. ' ' Mr Moyes, writing in the Sun-day Sun, says: ' The New Zealanders can go home with the knowledge they have played their cricket in fine spirit and that those who saw them will want to see them again. * 'Moloney proved kimself a very fine batsman, and Wallace would be an asset to our Test side." The Sunday Sun in an editorial says: "The presence of New Zealand cricketers brings home to us once again that Australia has not done its duty by New Zealand cricket. New Zealand has the material and needs only opportunity and encouragement to enable it to acquire a crickct eleven at least equal to any Sheffield Shield side. It is understood that the Board of Control intends to do 'something.' Let that something be soon and adequiate."
