Mr Ilusheer's Generosity. The District Hospital, Waipukuraui has benefftc'd to the extent of £50 by the generosity of Mr Gorhard Husheer, of Napier, who has inade his usual donation to the institution for Christmas choer. The money will be spent on giving hospital inmates a- happy Christmastide this year. Summer Sunshine Over Week-end. A touch of Bummer in the air at Waipawa and Waipukurau yestei'day sent a large number down to the' river. In the aftemoon the're was quite a large number in the water below the bridge in Herbert street, Waipukurau, and at least one canoe was to be seen. Awatds at Stratford Show. At thp first day of the Stratford Show the following Waipukurau hufseS gained awards: Mr W. Par&ons' "Foam" was first in the I3st. hkck, first in the best paced and mannered liack, first in the begt turned-out hack. and champion hack. Mr Pars'ons' "Tuakana"' was first in the open jump and first in the wire jump. Miss Dawn Bousfield's * ' Mako ' ' was first in the troop horse, first in the 15st., thi'rd .in the openjump, third in the wire jump; and third in the walk. Lodge Meeting. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, was held in Waipawa N.G. Bro. N. MacPherepn presi.ding o'ver a good attendahce of members. hTve new members were initiated, and three more proposed for membership. Fraternal greetings were received from Bro. Turfrey, a very old member of the lodge, and it was decided that the greetings be reciprocated. An invitation to be present at Loyal Tavistock Lodge on Dedember 9 was accepted. A report was received from the district ritual judges advising that Dannevirke had been the winners m the final, Congratulations hrc to be forwarded to the Dannevirke Lodge. P.G.'s Bros. A. Kerr and E. Kingston were appointed to represent the.iodge at the annual meeting of the C.H.B. Friendly Societies Council.' The election of officers reaulted: N.G., Bro. M. Fair; V.G., Sister. B, Limbriek; E.S., Bro. L. M. Gossar, At the conclusion of the meeting a soeial hour was held. Court Ruahine, A.O.F. Bro. D. R. Logan, O.R., presided oter the bi-monthly meeting of Court Ruahine,, A.O.F. Visiting members from Court Little John, Waipawa, were welcomed by . the Chief Ranger, Bro. Alurray replying on behalf of the .visitors. -Ono caudiflate was initiated into. the order, and a nominati.on for membership was ' received. An invitation from. CoUrt Little John to attond, a meeting in Waipawa on Thursday next was accepted. The Court decided in favoiir of holding a picnic at Lindsay Resel-.ve, and the flecrptary, Bro. J. ,H. Hopkinson, was instructed to convey this information to the Central Hawke's Bay Friendly Societies' Council. The picnic was an annual fixture, but it was abandoned last year on account of the infantile paralysis epidemic.
