Palmerston North Borough Celebrations PIGEONS RELEASED

PALMEESTON N., This Day. In beautiful weather, Palmerston North to-day begins a week of celebration, marking the sixtieth anniversary of the ■ establishment of the borough, for which . a comprehensive programme has been arranged. Not the "least interesting feature of the programme will be the gathering of old . identities from all parts of the Dominion. This mornjpg hundreds of pigeons were released% for Whangarei, Wellington, Nelson, Blenheim, Trentham, Hamilton, Pukemiro, Te Aroha', Huntly^ Gisborne, Waipukurau, Wanganui, Egmont Village, and New Plymouth. Each carried a note of greeting from th'e ' Mayor, Mr A. E. Mansford, to the mayor of the town where the pigeons came from.
