Napier Chamber oi Commerce Proposal HASTINGS TO BE INVITED . Members , of the Napier Chamber of Commerce, at the general meeting last " night, favoured- -the 'institution of as annual .dinner, to give members the op- j portunity of meeting socially. The discussion arose from a letter .from the British ' Einpire • League^ London, which. asked the Chamber 'a support . for the British Empire shopping week which is to be' organis'edV in' May, 1938. The letter further suggested that a luncheon might be held on the first day of the; week to help to stimulate. interest. Mr W. Harvey suggested that; the Chamber might use the occasion to institute an annual Chamber of Commercefunction, which meinbers agreed Should be a dinner.. Mr K. McLeay 's suggestion that menibers. of , the Hastings Chamber be invited to attend, s6 that matters of provincial interest niight .te diseussed, also won general support.'
