No Bids For Greenmeadows Fruit Farm Nearly forty people sat silent in the Foresters, Hall^ Napier, "yesterday afternodn while the Greenmeadows Fruit. Farm, near Taradale, one of the oldest-established and best-lcnown prop6rties of its kind . in Hawke's "Bay, -was offered at auction by * Wiiliams and Kettle, Ltd. The fruit farm proper, comprising 92 acres, and a number of buildings, was subdivided for sale into 12 lot.s ranging in size from iive to 13 acres, but no bi.d was forthcoming. Other properties in the estate of the late Mrs A. M. Bandall were offered at the same time, - but no " sale was recorded. Across Avondale jroad from the farm, and having frontages to that road and Osier road, 11 building sites were offered separately or as a com^plete block of approximately" five acres, but the only bid taken . was one of £50 for a quarter-acre section in Osier road, this being below the reserve price. The same bidder offered £500 for a section in Napier' with a chain frontage on Thackeray street, but again fell short of the reserve. Seven other sections, most of them house properties, .in Taradale, Greenmeadows and Napier, were offered to ' an unresponsive audiencc.
