In connection with the alleged widespread practice of drinking at dance® and in motor-cars, often with young . girls, the following resolution was supported by the Wanganui-Taranaki Methiidist Bynod in conference at Marton: — "That, with a view to safeguardifig the moral well-being Of young people attending dances in public halls and ehecking drunken rowdyism so often associated with sueh danCes4 Parliament be urged to extend the powers of the police to enabie them to search venicies in the vicinity of dance halls if suspeeted of containing intoxicated liquor, whether in private cars, taxis, buses or any other vehicles." The president, the Rev. F. Copeland (New Plymouth) delivered an informative and inspirational addr&ss, making a pleh for concentrated eft'ort and church loyalty. It was decided to recommend that a fulhtime Maori minister be employed in the North Taranaki di'strict. The finaneial returas showed a marked improvement. on the previous year in most circuits, and the district was congfutalated. . - In connection with the young people 's werk, it was recommended to the conference that three directors of youth work be appointed.
