GIFT AFTERNOON HELD AT WAIPUKURAU FOR ST.MARY'S HOME. NAPIER
The annual gift afternoon in aid of St. Mary's Home, Napier, organised by the members of the Waipukurau branch oi' the Mothers' Union .and St. Mary's Women 's Gaild, "was held in the vicatage garden, Waipukurau, yesterday afteruoQn. The atteudauce was uot as big as usual, but a large supply of gifts was received for ihe home. The guests wero welcomed by the •vicar, Oanon E. D. Eice# and Mrs Bice. In the lovely old garden, which was well sheltered from the boisterous wind, many eompetitions were arranged. Under a big spreading tree, an ice-cream stall, in charge of Misses Mary Riee and Hazel Moorhead, was well patronised, and in another Sheltered corner the visitors enjoyed a refreshing cup of afternoon tea. The winners of the eompetitions and those in charge were: — fckittles (Mrs Bryce), Mrs Balfour-Rowan; eloek golf (Mrs I. W. N. Mackie), Mrs Mackiej darts (Mrs E. Styles), Mrs J. Turtle; quoits (Mrs Rowan), Mrs W. A. Chambers; taipo (Mrs Y. Bradley), Michael Mason; ladder golf (Mrs E. Hewitt), Mrs L. Y. Hansen; golfits (Miss M. Buehanan), Mrs E. V. Ward; tailing pig (Miss J. Tunney), Michael Brathwaite. Mrs Hansen, senr., was in charge of the afternoon tea, and was assisted by Mesdames J. Hill,' R. Davey, E. Ealph, B. S. Tinney, Misses B. Merrylees, G. Beachen, and Hiehen. ' Mr B. Blair kindly took charge oi the gate, and also packed the gifts to be forwarded to the home.
