(By Teleeraph-
WELLINGTON, This Day. Steady rain fell in Wellington province last night, affording welcome relief to the farming communit'y. EarJy reports indicate that rain was "fairly general throughout the Dominion. Information received by the Meteorological Office shows that last night's rainfall was almost general throughout the Dominion, with heavy falls on the West Coast of the South Island, also about Cook Stfait and in the far south. It is anticipated that real relief will be afforded even in areas which suffered most from the dry spell^ especially as there are prospects of further rain soon. So far rainfall in Canterbury, the East Coast of the NO'rth Island, and inland districts of Otago has been only moderate. The rainfall recorded in Hastings for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was only .04 inches, the reault of a light fall in the early hours of the morning.
