Mr A. S. Moore, Waipukurau, returued yesterday from Wellington. Mr F. V. Portas, of the office stafi of the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Co-op-erative Association, Ltd., who has bfien transferred to the company's head office at Hastings after being connected with the Waipukurau branch for 17 years, began his duties in Hastings yesterday. Before his departure from Waipukurau Mr Portas was met by fellow- employees and presented with a travelling rug and a suitcase by Mr J. Huntley Walker, in the absence of the manager, Mr L. G-. Harker. r Mr G. E. Fowler, Waipuknrau, le^' for Wellington yesterday on business connected with the Power Boards and Supply Authorities Association, of which body he is the president of Ihe secretaries f branch. The piomotion of Lieutenant E. G. Kedgley, of the teaching staff of ths Waipukurau High School and Lieutenant J. M. Reidy, formerly a master at the High School, to the Tank of captain is Gazetted. The funeral of 'Mr. Robert Henry Jones took place at the Ormondville cemetery on Monday aftprnoon. Prior to the cortege leaving for the cemetery a service was held in the Anglican Church. The service at the churcli and at the graveside was conducted by Canon T. S. Culwick. There wero a large number of beautiful wreaths and floral emblems, testifying to the esteem in which the deceased was held. " The pall-bearers were: Messrs. Mearing, JLines, Dondunski, G. S. Chapman, R. Schaare, and T. Fothergill.
