Large Entry of Store Cattle Forward FAT CATTLE EASE Principal interest in to-day 's offering at tho Waipukurau stock sale wai centred on the store cattle, of which there was a large yarding which included many 'well-bred lines. The principal draft was on account of Mr P. Hunter, Porangahau. This consisted of about 500 mixed-age steers and empty cows. The market ohowed a definite ini* provement, which was attributed to the beneficial rains over the week-end, Yearling steers, in. comparison witli older lines, made the best selling of the day, when well-bred and well-wintered lines, fairly-grown, bro-ught to £6 5/-. Two-year steers in good order mado from £7 10/- to £7 14/-. Several lines . of three-year medinm-grown steers wero offered which realised to £8 5/-. Young empty cows brought £5 10/-. An attractive line of well-bred three-year cowt?, With calves at foot, offered on account of Mr H. T. Hume, brought £7 18/9. Although no activity was shown from outside buyersj bidding was brighter tdday. In common with Stortford Lodge values for faf cattle slaekened off and the best cows, which were well-finished, did not exeeed £8. Two pens of bullocks, in" store order only. and light, were passed. On account of the same vendor, 37i well-grown Hereford cross two-year; steers, also in good order, having been well wintered, s6ld at £7 9/-. . - Bred at Otane, 27 extra well-grown. and well-bred yearling Aberdeen Angus steers, in particnlarly good order, being an attractive line showing " quality, brought £6 2/6. ' ' In from Elsthorpe, 27 dehorned three-r year Hereford steers, medium growa' and in good store condition, met thei market at £8 5/-. An entry of 22 fairly-grown two-yeaii Hereford cross steers in good order, sold at £7 7/6. In from Porangahau, 17 medium* gibwn clean-bred 3-year Aberdeen Ajh ' gus steers, in good order and ready foi! finishing, sold at £7 17/6. In from Argyle, ten young Aberdeen! Angus cows,-in good condition, with' calves, by an A.A. bull, at foot, sold at £7 18/6. j In from Porangahau, 20 well-grown • 3-year Aberdeen Angus-Hereford eros# I steers, being a useful line of young cattle in gopd order, realised £8 11/-* . Also on account of Mr. P. Hunter, 119 particularly well-grown yearling Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cros.s steers^ in extra good order, having been* well done, attracted competition to sell.'ht?" £6 2/-. ' _ ". • ' . . Also in from Porangahau,. 51 wejlbred and fairly-grown yrlg." Aberdeen! Angus steers, well coated and in good dairy ' order, and should develop VintQ quality cattle, sold at £6 5/-. An offering of 98 well-grown two* year Aberdeen' Angus cross steers, not quite so well wintered as some of tho previous line, were passed at £7 10/-. An offering of 109 young Aberdeen Angus cows, believed to be empty, aud in quite good store "condition, were passed at £5 10/-. Three prime Hereford and brindln run ners only, and not. showing qualw \ty, were passed at the only bid of £S. A further pen of similarly-bred bulls ocks, showing a little more finish, wer« passed at £8 10/-. FAT CATTLE, A single well-framed heavy aged Ab* erdeen Angus cross bullock, plain in quality, brought £13. Two heavy well-finished clean-bred Jersey bullocks realised £11 5/-. Six well-finished medium framed Ab* erbeen Angu^ cows, in good order, sold at the only bid of £S. A heavy well-finished Red Poll cow, in good killing order, brought £8. Two medium to heavy well-finished Aberdeen Angus cows, in from Onga* onga, were passed at £7 12/6. Ten dehorned medium-framed Here* ford cows, some of which gave the ap* pearance of being in calf, sold at £7 10/-.
