The opening carnival of the" Havelock North. Swimming Club will be field at- tfie Havelock Nortfi Batfis on Wednesday, November 17. Alf swimmers are keen 'to get going again and tfie 'fact tfiat the club fiolds tfie Rainbow Sfiield and • Henry Williaras' Challenge Ciip fias made swimmers commence training early, ■ in order to defend tfiese . tropfiies. Last year, with all the restrietions, tfie club • fiad a good year ■ and, given better weather, there is no xeason wfiy this season should not prove a record one. Tfie programme is as follows: — Scfioolboys' 25yds., scfioolgirls ' 25yds., intermediate boys' 50yds"., ladies' and intermediate girls' 25yds., senior men 5Qyds., leaners' diving, exhibition diving, novelty seniors ' long jump, juniors' liigh jump schoolchildren 's teams' race, teams' race 100yds. Concluding the teams' race there will be a- short water polo praetice • f or all players.
