ANGLING AT TAUPO

Our Own (Jorrespondent..)

Several Good Catches

(From

TAUPO, Last Night. Owing to the humid state oi the wTeather experienced during the last week, the fishing has not been so good on the whole, but several individual catches were outstanding. The weather to-day has taken a change, a light, cool rain having set in. This should greatly improve fishing eonditions.* There are not now so many anglers about, the result being that there is not so- much ovbrcrowing at the various fly-fishing spots. The best fish so far was a 10-pounder landed with the dry fly from the launch Sunbeam by Mr Maeallister, of Auckland, who^ together with Miss Macallister, landed 15 good fish averdging 5|lbs. in Whakaipo Bay. The 10-ponnder in particular gawe wonderful sport. Mr A. Flintoff landed eight nice fish between the two and four-mile -bay on the.wet fiy. The catch averaged 5lbs., the best being 71bs. Mr Alan Pye secured his liruit near the Huka Lodge last Saturday, including a 7|-pounder. Mr Toddhunter, of New South Wales, ianded four nice fish averaging 4|lbs., the best gcaling 7lbs. ' Trolling between the wharf and Rangiatira Point, Mr F. A. FullertDnSmith, of Palmerston North, landed 10 fish in four days on the Spa reach of the Waikato river on the dry fly. The best was 5flbs., anfi the average SJlbs.
