WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Meeting at , Waipawa The monthly meeting of the Waipawa Women's Institute was held last week. Miss D. Jull presiding over a good attendance of members. A letter was received froiii the Waipukurau Show Asbociation forwarding sebedules and an lnvitation was received to attend the Wakarara Institute birthday party. A new table cloth made by several of the members was in use, and Miss Jull tbanked all members wbo had assisted m working it, particularly Mrs. Pepperell and Mrs. Thompson. Miss Jull also thanked Mrs. Grenside for tier assistance in runnmg the cake competition which was won by Mrs. Buckeridge. » A sugg'estioh was made that a beach picnic and sliop should be held at Pourerere during the liolidays and the matter was lei't over for further consideration. The president reminded members of the garden party to be held in Deeember, > and again offered the use oi' her gcronnds. * Mrs.; Preston, the delegate to the conference at Papatawa submitted a report of the business tranaaeted there. Money boxes were presented to Babies Bo'oker, Bishop, FJetcher (twins), MacGregor, Petersen, Molntosh and Petherick. Two new members were elected, Mrs. J. lreland and Mrs. J. Cudhy.; Continuing the Golden Thread series of talks, Mrs. Menzies, oi Napier, gave a very interesting address on Denmark. describing in detail the Clfristmas festivities in the northern countries. A very hearty yote of tlianks was accorded 'to the speaker. Mrs. Adeane gave an interesting and Ninstructive demonstration of bandaging. The competitions resulted as follow: JBest devorated jar, Mrs. ' Parkin I and 2, Mrs. Pepperell 3; best bloom, Mrs. F. Limbrick 1 ; marmalade, Mrs. S. Boijd 1, Mrs.. Grenside 2 and 8.. A delightful afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames F. Limbrick, MacDonald, Annand, C. Donghi, and Nurse Gordon.
