Japanese Encroachment on Alaska Fishing-Grounds AMERICAN "INDIGNATION

The Fishermen's Union and Maritime Federation in the Pacific has an^ nounced a boycott of Japanese goods and will picket all Japanese ships on, the Pacific Coast oa Monday unless the, State Department protects the Aiaskan fishing grounds from the Japanese. It is alleged that Japanese opefate large floating canneries and are depleting the salmon by unseasonal and unregulated fishing. It is hoped fhat the State Department will secure .tae withdrawal of the Japanese fleet. When informed by the Japanese spokesman that Tokio denied Japanese fishing in Alaska, the secretary of the Aiaskan Fishermen's Union issued a statement saying: 'If tliis is Japan's
