Why Flood Tide Did Not Start in Melbourne Cup
(By TelegrapB—
AUCKLAND, This Day. A sprained muscle on the rear of the rump was the cause of Flood Tide being unable to fulfil his engagement in the Melbourne Gup, said the owner, Mr Desmond Davis, on returning from Sydney this morning. In the Caulfield Cup Flood Tide had a good start but did not make a run when he should have done. Otherwise he put up a good performarice, running fifth. Mr Davis commented on the excellent way* in which race meetings were couducted in Australia. Every cOuffcesy was extended to visiting sportsmen and New Zealand horses were." in high favour. Flood Tide is being sent to-day from Melbourne to Sydney and will reach Auckland on Friday next. His next start will be in the Auckland Cup. — i
