If the aetual threaxls of. linen are uudainaged the njarhs may usually be removed by soap and water, or by rubbing on a little dry borax with a piece of oiuslin, In this ease it will be necessary to iron the material under a piece of muslin to prevent the iron sticking. If the scorch is very bad, a little nmraonia may be used in the walec or a bleaijhing liquid mado froin 'jli'orinated lime. The quantities for this are: — 11b. chlorinated lime, £ gallon boiling water, two tablespoons of soda.
