The death has occurred at Birkenhead of Mr John Brophy, aged 63. He was born at Pleasant Valley, Geraldine, his father, Mr Wyfan J. Brophy, having settled in 8outh Canterbury in 1855. He moved to the North Island in 1905 and for several years was stock auctioneer for Dalgety and Company, Ltd., in the Hawke's Bay and Manawatu districts. In later years he was in the land agericy business in Auckland. Mr Brophy, whose -wife died four years ago, is survived by two sons aud two duughtcra,
