Fat Sheep Market Declines CATTLE VALUES DISAPP0INT
( D'rom i
PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Feilding stock sale yesterday attracted considerable interest owing to the supplementary cattle f air, whieh brought out a laT'ge offering of run eattle, the bulk of which was offered on account of dealers. Dry conditions on both ihe east and west coast foreshadowed a setbhck and this was Tealised since bnyers were influenced to hold off. Light rain in the morning suggested that the market might improve but as this was of slight significance, activities were restricted and the ' bulk of the offering was passeCt in under the hammer, Later saies by private treaty were affected at prices considered satisfactory but they were down on the quotations of the last fair. About 1200 fat sheep were yarded and the offering was evidently in excess of the demand since values declined and bidding was dull. In the fat cattle section a number of very prime bullocks on account of Hair Bros., Gisborne, realised high values Thece cattle were from the recent Royal Show at Palmerston North • and they wero in wonderful condition, exciting ke#n interest on the part of butchers. Tlie top price was £17 for a very heavy bulloclc. Saies in the store sheep section were at late quotations for good quality lots There was a limited offering of dairj cattle.
