Presa Association.)

"Over the Edge," Says Masterton A. & P. Executive

POLICE ACTION URGED

kBj Telegraph—

MASTERTON, Last Night. A decision to inform the police that it viewed with alarm some of the sideshows at agricultural and pastoral shows was made at the meeting of the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association to-night. Mr H. M. McGuinness said that certain of them were bordenng on vulgarity or worse. At the Carterton show there was a mau calling out to people to go and see an almost naked woman. It encouraged nothing but immorality. Mr H. Bennett said that some of tbe side-shows were "over the borderline. ' ' There were nudist shows and Paris-after-midnight entertainment which were no good for anybody. He would have been ashamed to be seen going into some of them. The difficutly could be overcome if the association informed the Police Department that they viewed with alarin some of the sideshows, said Mr D. B. Curry. Mr P. F. Fagan said that at Carterton a definite swindle was perpetrated and he knew o'f some young farmers who were taken down. Mr J. M. James said that it was the trend of things to see how far the shows could go and no doubt they got to the borderline. Action in the matter was a step in the right direction. for there wero plenty of good shows with- 1 out going "over the edge." The secretary^ Mr 11. H. Williams, said the Masterton shdw did not have much trouble. ''You seo the same snggestive things in the pictures, so if they happen to be at the show why bother about them?" he asked. Mr McGuinness said that seeing pictures was different from seeing people in the fiesK
