AUCKLAND, This Day. By a. ulianimous vote the Rev. Thomas Ewart Riddle, of Punjab, India, was to-day appointed ModeratorDesigiiate by the General Assembly of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church. Other nominations iii favour of the Revs. J. Davie, G. H. Jupp, H. Davies and J. Paterson were withdrawn iii favour of Mr Riddle. Iu moving the appoiutment, the Rev. J. A. Thomson said that Mr Riddle was ordaiued in 1903 and began work in the Punjab in 1912. He had rendered wonderful service to the church. No-one had done greater service iu the Indian mission field. During the war he served as chaplain to the Indian troops and had contraeted a setere illness which had almost Cost his life. He Would be returning on furlough next year. Mr Thomson though it would be fitting to call him to the church as Moderator. He would dignify the office and do a great deal to improve missionary; cffort, a crying need to-day. The motion was seconded by the Rev. G. H. Jupp, who paid a tribute to Mr Riddle's great work in the mission field. .
