ADELAIDE. — A . grant. from the Carnegie Corporation of New York has enabled the governors of the National Art Gallery to extend their plans for popularizing art to the country. Extensive alteratious had just beon -completed to the gallery on North Terrace, and the director, Louis McCubbin, considers it now to. be ono of the best. appointed in Australia. The new programme for widening the influence of pictures in the national collection ineludes the issue of a quarterly bulletin containing illustrations and articles concerning them. Weekly guide lectures have been arranged and qualified speakers will be sent to the country schools. In addition, sets of prints and artistic works will be distributed among schools and public institutions.' The quarterly bulletin will publish news aird topics relatihg to art throughout the world. The bulletin will be the first produced by an art gallery in Australia and will be sent for exchange td art galleries in the United States and other parts of the world.
