“AWATEA STREET"
New Roa&'way Apjiroved "Awatea street" is the name chosen by the Hastings Borough Council for the new road that is to be formed in the sub-division of further property of Mr E. V. Simpson which has been taken over by the Government Housing Department. The new street will be a little south of Akina street and approval of the council was granted last evening for the extension of Hastings street in the direction of the Hastings High School so that it would lead to the proposed new street and connect with Willowpark road. It is interesting to note that with the formation of the new roading i'n this part of the borough access will be provided from the rear to the proposed Intermediate School and also to the High School, while the locality will become a fairly thickly populated one for the opening up of the several large blocks of land will allow for approximately 120 to 130 houses to be erected. -
