Who is responsible for the upkeep of the St. A'ndrew Cross warning signs at tho various railway crossings iq Hastiugsj This question is now being ilcbatcd by tlie Hailway Department 'and tho Hastings Borough Council by corrospondericc — and the answer has yet to be found. Adviee that the signs ncedcd attention and asking the council to attend to saine was received by the council last night from the district engineer of the Bailways Department, and it was decided to replv stating that as these signs had not boen erected by the council, nor had it at any timo undertakcn any responsibility in connection witli their maitenance, it was regrettcd that the council could not carry out the re-' quests made to ttiem. v
