Fernhill Meeting
Members of the Fernhill Women 's Institute met at tiie hall on -Thursday af teriioon for their monthly meeting, when.-in the absence of the preside'nt,' Mrs Davies, the meeting was presided over by Mrs Campbell. A. weicome was extended to members rfhd to two visitors, Miss Large" and Miss Corrigan. Miss Large- gave an interesting demonstration on the making of woolruga. She brought two finished rugs with her to show the members, and these were very mnch admired by all. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Finch and Taylor, and then the competitions for the afternoon were judged ,by the visitors. The results were ae foUows: — Best bloom grown in own garden: Mrs Lord 1 (lris), Mrs Osborne 2 (stock), Mrs Finch 3 (cream rose) ; best worked tray cloth: Mrs Osborne 1, Mrs Campbell 2, Mrs Craven 3. The business items were discussed later, as the visitors wishod to leave early. It was decided to purchase curtains for the stage in the hall, to be used for • Institute eocial evenings. It was announced that an open meeting would 12, this being the sixth birthday party. be held on Friday evening, November Also that a children 's afternoon party would be held at the next monthly meeting ,in December, when it was. hoped that Father Christmas would be present. Mrs Craven gave a comprehensive rcport of the half yearly meeting of the Northefn Hawke's Bay Federatipn teld at Greenmeadows in October, and also read quite a iengthy .letter from the link at Mill Cre'ek, Galt, Ontano.
