PROVINCIAL PERSONALS

Mr J. M. Carroll, clerk of the Waipukurau Court, was confined to his home through illness yesterday, his place heing taken by Mr C. P. Wilkinson, of the Hastings Court staff. A very old resident of Waipawa, Mrs Mary Sebley, wife of Mr M. H. Sebley, passed away at her residence, "Willow Farm," Richmond Park, during the week-end. The late Mrs Sebley, who was 71 years of age was born in Invercargill, and came to Waipawa about 50 years ago. She leaves, besides her husband, and a brother residing in Fiji, a family of two sons (Lewis and Norman) and one daughter (Dorothy), and the sympathy of the community will be extended to them in their bereavement. The interment took place at the Hadley Cemetery, the Rev. S. Keen conducting a short service at the residence and also at the graveside. Past members of the Waipawa Band acted as bearers, and the hymns "Abide With Me" and "Lead Kindly Light," were played by members of the Waipukurau Band. Mr and Mrs P. Smalley, Ormondville, paid a visit to Palmerston North during the week-end. Mrs C. Longman, Ormondville, is at present undergoing treatment in the Dannevirke Public Hospital. Mr and Mrs Svenson, who have been residents of Porangahau for several years, have taken up their residence in Ormondville.
