Successful Angling At Taupo WEEK-END CATCHES

TAUPO, This Day. There are still a large number of anglers fishing in and around Taupo for this time of the year, Although th© fish as yet are not big, they are cettainly more numerous and givmg better sport than usual. Some of the best catches are: — Mr and Mrs Clapp, of Sydney, trolling from the launch Dawn between Mine Point and the wharf, secured .20 fair-conditioned fish, the heaviest of which was 61b., with an average of 41bs. Mr Wynn, in two hour3 from the launch Whizzbang, landed eight good fighting fish between Booth's farm and the wharf. The best went Sllbs., aiid all gave good sport. Mr L. Deighton and party, of Napier, fly and trolling from the launch Sunbeam, secured 12 fish, the best of nfliich was 641bs., but all gave good sport. Mr H. E. Phillips and Mr W. A. Nunmon, of Havelock North, fly-fishing between the Huka and Beid's farm, secured their limit on Saturday. Although the fish were small, they considered that they gave wonderful sport' and wero in better fighting condition for this timo of the year than for some years past. Mr anu. Mrs A. Carlton, of New Jersey, seeured nine good fish from the launch Sunbeam. The heaviest was 7$ Ibs. They trollea between Rangatira Point and the wharf. Messrs E. G. Bridgens, W. Eddowes and C. F. Nicholsoii, of Auckland, on the launch Whizzbang, were the first to try out the Western Bay. They had a most successful trip trming and flyfishing. They soon seeured their limits. Their best fisjh went 6Jlbs., with an average of 41bs. Mr and Mrs J. Power, of New Plymouth, trolling from the Dawn, between the Point and the wharf, secured 13 good fish, the best weight being 6|lbs. Captain Oliver, B.N., of Wellington, fishing near L.'ulljame's eamp, took nine fish, all in good condition. The best three were 7, 6, and 51bs.
