HUSBANDS ENTERTAINED
Ongaonga Inslitute's Evening : A most enjoyable time was spent at the Ongaonga Hall when members of the local bTanch of the Women 's Institute entertained their husbands and friends at a social evening^ A most amusing competition, musical' hats, caused hearty laughter. The winner was Mrs B. Diamond. Later, ,a novel paper-cutting competition, aroused great interest, the final win* nmg pair being Mrs W. Turnbull and Mr H". Robb. For the concert part of ' the programme exeellent elocutionaiy items were rendered by Miss Lncy Ruston, and Freda and Jean Turnbull gave a most popular exhibition of Highland dancing and the Irish Jig. A number of original sketches entitled "Proverbs," were performed by Mrs Bell and Miss Ruston with the help of other members of the Institute, the audience showing their appreeiation by loud applause. Some ftilk dances were also neatly executed by a- team' of eight schoolgirls, and the final concert item was a play entitled- "Mary's Dismissal," c'evcrly performed by memburs of the Institute. Those taking part Wero Me.-'dhraes Bradloy, Bell, Oarr and Diamond, and Missea Bradloy and Wernham. During the evening music for several dances were well played by Miss Hodge, and the duties of M.O. were ably canied out by Mr B. Richardson. A bountiful supper was provided and at the concj'usioii Mrs Bradley, presidont of the Institute, thanked all those who had attended and had helped to inake the eveting such a happy and successful one.
