CRANE CAPSIZES
Mishap at The Waitangi Washout DRIVER ESCAPES INJURY Motorists using the main highway between Hastings and Napier yesterday afternoon and this morning were provided with an unusual spectacle en route. This was of one of the huge craues in operation at the Waitangi Washout raiiway bridge which had toppled over on its side. It is not known exaetly how the machine came to run off the rails and fell over bufc the driver eseaped injury, though he was badly .shakon. This morning a sister machine was rushed from Waipukurau to the scene of the mishap and efforts are now in progress to right the fallen crane. The task is no easy one, even for the tre* mendously powerful machine, for there is little room to work in at the particular locality and the work has to be carried out with the minimum possible delay to other raiiway traffic.
