Mr I. F. Thomson, town clerk at Milton, has been appointed town clerk at Northcote. Mr George Gunn, of Fernhill, left Hastings by the mail traih this morniiig to attend the G.J.C. Cup meeting at Riccarton to-morrow, Mr A. F. M. Symes, of Longlands, left for Christchurch by the mail train this mofnihg to attend the races at Riccarton. • Mr J. S. McLeod, president of the New Zealand Racing Conference, left Hastings this morning for Christchurch to attend the New Zealand Cup meeting which opens at Riccarton to-morrow. Mr E. T. Gardiner, clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Napier, has been transferred to Wairoa. He is to be replacod at Napier by Mr W. N. Calder, of New Plymouth. ProfesBor W. Anderson, of Auckland University College, left by the Tainui yesterday on a visit to England. He expects to return at tho end of February. Mr J. A. Henry, of Auckland, has been appointed senior inspector of schools in Hawke 's Bay in succession to Mr T.1 A. Morland^ who has been promoted to Dunedin. Mr Henry will. take up his duties about the beginning of March next.
