WAIPAWA, Last Night. The monthly mneting of the Waipawa Ghamber of Commerce was held in the Council- Chambers, Mr F. ' M, Tickner presiding over a good attendance of memhers. Mr Tu'.kner reported that, with the secretary, he had had an opportunity of inspecting the plans of the proposeo new Post Ofiice, which provided for a very fine building. The secretary, Mr F. Adeane, reported on arra-ngements for" the ' ' Community Baif-Price Day." Mr i'atterson inquired wliethbr it was proposed that this should be the forerunncr c.t further efforts, or whether it was cn'y an isolated effort. — The chairman said that provided the day was successful there was no reason why it should not be continued. Mr Murray outlined a further scheme as' a'follow--up and the matter was again ieft ln ttie hands of the sub-comniittee, Messrs Tickner, Eagle,- Adeane and'Limbrick).Mr Critchley suggesxea that reprcsentations should be made to the postal authorities to have mails for private hoxes — from the early train sorted on holidays by the staff which attended to the dispatch of mails. — Members supported ' thia proposal, and' It- \vas' decifi--" ed to make representatiofls^ to the departme'nt. . • - . The chairman brought up tne position covering the employment of the r'Jgbtwatchman, and Messrs Taylor, Tickner and Eagle were appointed as a committee to go into the matter. A leport is to be placed before the (ghamber at its next meeting reiative to the establishment of swimming baths, the secretary in the meantiine to secure all possible information from other centres.
