Need For Instruction in Gisborne Area JUDGE'S REMARKS

GISBOENE, Last Night. "Judging from the cases I have heard here previously, there is a pretty low standard of morality among the Maoris in the district north of , Gisborne," commented Mr Justice Ostler, in addressing tbe Grand Jury at the opening of the Supreme Court this morning referring to the fact that three of the. five cases for trial and two tor sentence related to sexual offences among natives. "Something should be done about it," he added, and suggested that some form of instruction might he beneficial.
