Sequel To Collision In Hastings A collision between a car and a lorry iu which the lorry was forced on to the footpath and a verandah pole -broken had its sequel in the Hastings Magis- . trates Court this morning when Kaymond Kennedy pleaded guilty through Mr W. Selwyn Averill to a charge of negligently driving a motor-ear in St. Aubyn street, Hastings. A lorry parked outside a store in St. Aubyn street was struck from the rear by a motor-car driven by the defendant, said Senior-Sergeant C. Sivyer. As a result of this the lorry was forced on to the footpath. Defendant le+'t his car, which was damaged, at the siie of tho road and disappeared. His excuse to the police was that he had been m ill healthffor some time. ''When I saw the defendant some days later," said Senior-Sergeant Sivyer, "he was suffering froru some narvous tiv/uble and I at once formed tho opinion "that he should not be allowed to dlrive. I think that his licence might be cancelled." ! "I do not see how I can cancel hi9 licence on the evidenee we have here," replied the Magistrate, Mr J. Miller, S-M. "In intoxication cafes we havo something more definite to go on than. we have in a case of iil-health such as this. ' ' The defendant had been suffering from nervous and eye ironble, said Mr Averill, and on the night of the accident he aad been dazzled by the iights of oncoming traffic. A fine of £3 with costs £1 was imposed, defendant's licence being endorsed.
