Speaking on foreign affairs in tho House of Commons, Mr AnthonyvEden said: "The House will no doubt have observed that during recent days a country which has itself, as an outeome of the Great War, gained very considerable aOeessions of terri^iry in Europe and has also received certain terriorxal concessions in Africa from countries which were allies in the Great War has now championed the claim of Germany to African possessions. "I must now declare plainly that we de not admlt the right pt any Government to call upon us for a contribution when there is no evidence.to show that that Government Is prepared to mahe any contribution on its own part," Mr Eden said. l|he statement was received with checrs.Mr Eden went on to say that aetioa in connection with the Far East dispute must depend on the co-operation of the United. States to secure which he would travei not merely from Geneva to Brussols but from Melbourne to Alaska.
