Mr. R. C, Williams left Hastings by car yesterday for Wellington. Mr. R. Holt, of Hastings, left this morning on a business visit to Ohakune. Mr. J. Hart, of Hastings, left yesterday afternoon on a holiday visit to Rotorua. Mr. E. L. Cullen, M.P., left Hastings by the mail train this morning for Wel: lington. Mr. K. R. Hancock, of the literary stafl? of the Dominion, Wellington, ar» rives to-day to stay with Mr. 'and Mrs. T. Q'Dowd, Kitchener street, Hastings. Mr. J, M. Main, who bas been transferred from Palmerston North, took up duty at the Hastings railway station* fhis morning. , Dr. Roland Cftsbmore was last night appointed president of tho Hastings Golf Club, Mr. F. B. Kelly not seeking re-election after three years service in the office and one as vice-president. Mr. P. W. N. Bone, of Hastings, left this morning by air for Gisborne on a short business visit. He ckartered oue of fhe H.B. andi E.C. Aero Club's planes and was piloted by Mr. E. A. Barker. Mr. W. D. Corbott, engineer to 'the Napier City Couneil, was appointed president of the North Wellington brauch of the New Zealand In&titution of Engineers held at Palmerston North last week. The next annual meeting is to be held at Napier. The appointment of Mr. L. G. Tuck to be Assistant Commissioner of Starap Duties is announced in & Gazette issued last week. Mr. Tuck has also been appointed Assistant-Registrar of Coinpanies, Registrar of Building Societies!, Registrar of Industrial and Provident Societies and Assistant-Registrar of Incorporated Societies at Wellington from November 1.
