Hawke's Bay Anglers Secure Good Bags i TROUT LALCK CONDITION

TAUPO, This Day. The Taupo fislrng season opened yesterday iu good. fishing weather but the results were not what was expected as to condition. It would appear that the fish will be in excellent trim iu about another two weeks. There appears to be plenty about and, if the season was opened, say a fortnight later, betteir results would be showc. Capt. Euau caught five fish below the Huka, the best of which was 71bs. Mr D. W. Hursthouse, of Hastings, caught five fish in two hours from the early morning rSse at The Pines on the west'ern side of the lalce. Six lbs. was the best from the lanncih Romance. Messrs J. P. Sheehan, C. McLean, E. Young and B. Tweedio caught 29 fish between Rangitira Point and Taupo, the heaviest was;6ilbs. and , they averaged 4Hbs, . Mr, Tweedie caught his limit and he considoxed that the fish will improve and be in. excellent condition in about a month's time. They enjoyed good sport with what they got. Messrs T. Sheehan, F. Bolt and J. Goldie, fishing from the launch Whizzbang, landed 11 fish, the best of which was 71bs and 'the average was 41bs. Mr W. Einross-White, of Omarunui, caught three nice fish on the Matuku., fishing from the launch Whillbank inside Rangitira Point, the best being 51bs. He considers it is too early iu tho season for condition. Fishing from the launch Dawn, Mr Holden and party seeured 27 fish, a 61b. fish being the best. They had good sport. From the launch Sunbeam Messrs L. O. Breakwell, G. 0. Kennedy and G. Pollock, of Dannevirke, seeured the biggest catch of the day, in getting 35 averaging 4|lbs. Mr Breakwell seeured the biggest fish reprrted for the day, this being a '9-pounder. Mr W. White, oT Napier seeured four fish from the launcih Pandora averaging 4bs. Mr H. Minett, of Taupo, seeured an 3-pounder, fishing o. t the wharf wi'th a Doris fly, together with three more, all averaging 6}lbs. Mr J. H. McCarpenter caught seven fish between tle Two and Three Mile Bays on the fly. The best was bllbs.
