DUNEDIN, Last Night. fThe Government, without. risk, work or worry, takes half of our net. profit, " stated Mr P. L. Walsted at the annual meeting of the D.I.C. yesterday. Pigures were: To the Government, 9/6 in the £, and to shareholders 7/1, 3/2 being retained in the business. Speaking further, in refutal of the tendency to decry and discourage big business, the chairman said that the company had 860 employees drawing £122,837 annually, paid the Government in taxes £84,521 and purchased locally goods costing £306,444, as against £156,023 from England and overseas.
