AUCKLAND, Last Night. One boy was drowned and another was fortunate to escape with his life when attempting to swim across a deep lagoon in a disused quarry- at Point Clievalier, The victim was Owen Miller ,aged 16, of Grey Lynn. In company with his brother, Trevor Thomas Miller, aged 14, and his uncle, Leslie Miller, aged 19, he got into difficulties when a short way from the shore. Trevor Thomas turned back and regained the shore, but the others continued their swim of ahout 70 yards to the opposite baiik. After. a struggle Leslie Miller sueceeded, but Owea Miller disappeared.
