Rugby Turn Tables On Hastings UNITED SAVE A P0INT Ideal conditions again prevailed on Saturday for the completion of the lirst series of games in the combined Hastings-Napier senior cnchet competition. Two outright wins in Hastings and a victory on the first innings count at Napier were recorded and in addition, the hxst century of the season in the senior division "was registered.The surprise of the afternoon waa the complete turning of the tables by Eugby on Hastings.. The former, after being behind by 42 runs on the iirst iDnings made a splendid recovery and i linished off Hastings for 38 to win outj right by 63 runs. i The meeting between the two High School Old Boys' teams resulted in a four-point win for the Napier side by live wickets. I At Napier the afternoon 's batting i was provided by United who in Teply to Technical Old Boys' 291 recorded 190 and had to follow-on. The outstanding feature of the innings was the contribution of H. Hawthorn was compiled 110, the first senior century oi the season. United batted out the remainder of the afternoon to save a championship point. Junior grade games were played at both Hastings and Napier, the third i series being played at Hastings, while | the opening series of two-day matches in the Napier junior A section were • completed and the second series of the Napier junior B werep layed.
