LUNCHEON CLUB MEMBERS ENJOY GARDEN PARTY
The be'autiful hoines and gardens- of Havelock N'orth have on many occasious given great pleasure to those fortunate ■ enougli to visit them and one of these was yfesterday tlie scene of a happy pa'rty when Mrs Selwyn 'Ohambei's, Kopanga, entertained the members or the Hastings Women's Luncheon Club. The day -was quite ideal for a garden party aiid a very pleasant hour or two was spent by between 20 and 30 elub members wandering through the lovely gardens; most beautifully kept, and having a Wealth of bright flowers. The long border of* pansies and the rose-bed with many lovely blooms were partieu* lariy admired aud even the well-kept vegetable garden was muc^ii praised by the guests. A most perfect vlew was obtained, from the upstaira balcony, of the Have- ' lock hills and Peak, Hastings and Napier and across the sea to Mahia Peninsula and as most of the club members were town folk the vicw and the gardens were very much appreciated. Before leaving, the club presideut, Mrs A. E. O'Meara, thanked Mrs Chambors very much indeed for her kinduess in givirig the members such an enjoyable afternoon and mentioned that her great interest in tlie club. as their patroness, was much appreciated. Mrs Chanibers wore a gown of flowered silk with hana-fagotted yoko efEect and a black hat. Mrs O'Meara wore a frock of deep primrose matelasse with a natural sliaded straw hat. Mrs E. K. Eaulkner, who assisted Mrs Chambers, wore a navy blue suit with pale pink jumper and navy hat, and Miss Sybil Lincoln, the club secretary, chose a i'rock of red and wliite flowered silk with wide red belt and a' ,.nhit© — - \j
