McHardy. "First the infantile epidemio, then changes and ioss-es among the Guiders, wliich is quite the most serious disability to contend with. The annual returns in July for the Dommion were as foliows : — VVaipawa: Guiders 2, Guides 8, Brownies 10; Waipukurau: Guiders 4, Guides 21, Brownies 20; p, total of ejx Guiders, 29 nides and 30 Brownies. Since thep it has been necessary to close both the Guide pompany and the Brownie puck in Waipawa. "Jvliss A. Hobson, captain of the Waipukurau company, who received her warrant in July, was, owing to illhealth, granted three months' leave ot ubsence. We look for ward to ber return to active work. The Waipukurau company was unfortunate in losiug the services of Miss Valerie Harding. Miss J. Allan has had a successful year with the Waipukurau Brownie pack, and has lately sat for her warrant. Miss Williams' Appointment, "At our first district meeting in March ,we were very glad to hear of tha appointment of MSs E. Williams, Frimley, Hastings, as Provincial Coinmissioner, and a letter of welcome was sent to her, Miss Williams was present in Waipawa and Waipukurau, when the Mayor afiixed his seal to the Royal Address which, with an illUstrated map of New ^ealand, was later forwaided to Their Majesties on the occasion oi their L'oronation. The tour during March and April of this ioyal Address and tuap was the New Zealand Girl Guides' special Coronation eft'ort, and o'ccasioned much activity and interest. "In July, prior to closing, Miss Bibby called the Waipawa Guides and Brownies together and 1 explained the position to them. 1 held a very eujoyable and satisfactory meeting with the Waipukurau Guide company on July 20. On August 16 Mrs. Walker and 1 attended a meeting of the late Otane Guide oommittee. A district meeting with ful] attendanee of memuers and Guiders was held at Mrs. A. O. Wiliiams's, Waipukurau, on August 17, and a considerable amount of business was trausacted. The thauks of the district for long service in the Guide movement was extended to Miss Bibby. "The district finance is very satisfactory, aud we are most grafeful to Mr. Tickner for auditing the books. During the period .if inactivity in Waipawa, which we trust is only of a tentporary nature, I hope that the representatives will be willing to remain on the committee as this will be the only sure way of keeping touch, "I wish to thank our president. Mrs. Harding, our secretary, Mrs. Walker, the committee and Guiders for their help and support during the year,"
