LONDON. — It is costing about £331 to find work for one man in the special or depressed areas of Engiand . and Wales. j Since last autumn, £3,500,000 in _ grants to these areas has been made | by the Government and other sources, | As a result, work is being found for , 10,566 persons previously jobless. J Actual grants from these sources total ( £2,000,000. The remaining • £1,500,000 is being provided from other sources in( the form of new. capltal for assisted under takings. About 62 industries in South Wales, Durham, Tynesiderand Cumbe'rland are being assisted by the grants. There are 97 cases of assistance in all. The ' largest amounts are being provided in South Wales, where the total assist'ance is £1,586,900. In Durham and Tyneside the total is £1,442,150, in Cumberland £550,250. ; .7;
